The AutoMax Distributor Case Study
AutoMax Group (AMG) is a well-known importer and distributor of automotive supplies, specializing in oils and lubricants for various vehicles, including cars, trucks, and machinery. They are the authorized macro distributor of Shell oils in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
AMG depended largely on Excel for reporting, despite having a good data mart. Tables were not optimized for BI data model, so we helped with optimization at the PBI level. Business stakeholders originally could query data using Management Studio or Excel, but the resulted reports were often duplicated between users, inaccurate and visually unappealing.
The objectives of AMG were to reduce redundant data, provide a single source of truth, and create attractive visual data representation. They wanted to have an interactive report with predefined filters and bookmarks, measures with common naming, and to receive training for efficient use of the platform.
We created a customized sales and profit report and assisted AMG with setting the user rights company-wide. The data in the reports covered various categories such as customer information, products, supplier details, dealer information, time periods, sales figures, etc. We also explained to AMG employees how to use the report. All of this was completed in less than 10 days.
Our collaboration resulted in a successful implementation of Power BI, providing AMG with a unified and reliable source of truth for their data. We created customized sales report and a robust data model, allowing for accurate and consistent insights across the organization. As a result, AMG enhanced their decision-making capabilities with clear, visually appealing reports that accurately reflected their sales, profit margins, and overall business performance.
